I hope all of my furiends and their families had a wonderful Christmas!

Sadly, Sarah went shopping to look for some pressies for me to fill my stocking, and she came home empty handed of doggie stuff. She told me she looked everywhere, but all toys available were puppy teether toys, and all the clothes she could find was a Santa suit fit for ginormous dogs, and a tea-cup Chihuahua. :(
But I'm Okies, I know I'm loved and that's all I want. I was very happy with the Christmas dress I got last year and sitting with Sarah. 

Have to show this! Sarah & I got Danny Boy the coolest hat ever - 

Tehehehee...

This year, we had a BBQ instead of the usual bake dinner. Good for the Summer. It was a hot day.

It's Finally Revealed - The Puzzle!

Okies, so we had a few guesses of what the puzzle was: Creation, Noah's Ark, The Nativity Scene of Jesus, and hehe.. ME! Firstly, I must say I have no puzzle of me Mario, but we should get one!

It was Noah's Ark! I wanted to get a photo, but Danny Boy pulled it apart. :(( I promise next time we'll get a snap though.

Goodbye Winter!

Sorry I haven't been posting, I have lots and lots of photos to share, but I've been slack, haven't I?
Anyway, here in Australia, it is now SUMMER!

Respect

We dogs need respect. I know my last post was a little whiney, and yes, I do have lots of good things to share, which I will get around too VERY SOON!

Well, just two minutes ago, Sarah was holding me as I love it.. we were standing next to Danny-Boy, and I, very cutely might I add, put my fluffy paw on his shoulder. Cute eh?
What does he do? "AWWW.. Don't Miley! NO".. they he picks up my pretty paw, and shoves me away. Sarah tells him not to and sticks up for me like the nice human she is. I on the other hand am very upset. HOW COULD HE DO THAT??? Where is my respect? WHERE???
Now, like the brave girl I am, I am going to go and do my duty to act as if it didn't happen, and not hold a grudge.

Note from Sarah: Please excuse that last comment about Miley not holding a grudge. When she gets upset, she sooks. She goes into the corner lies down, and doesn't look at anyone. If you give her a cuddle, she will go back to the corner. Yes, she usually gives me a little kissy before, but not a happy one, just a lick. If Danny-boy goes up to her, she will just pull her head away and sob. If he continues to try and make her happy, she will find a different corner. Sometimes I'm sure I hear little whining noises. She denies this, but it is true.
 

Tail Between Legs

It's a tail-between-legs night over here. Rocky Road Ice-cream or Cookies & Cream Ice-cream (well the cookies n' cream is only Sarah's) for all!
Wait.. you mean all except Miley. Where is my Ice-cream? What, I don't even get a cone?

The only good news, Sarah shared a bit of her cookies n' cream ice-cream with me. A dollop on my nose is all I need.. until Danny Boy comes with his stuffed cone.. wait, is that your second one Danny-Boy? "Yup..  yum yum, all mine." Phew...

When Chicks Don't Hatch

WARNING: Firstly, this is a sad story, so if you don't like sad stories, you may want to skip this post.

OK, so you know we have chicks, as we brought fertilized eggs. Well, five out of the eight eggs hatched, so three didn't hatch (simple maths, I'm a smart pup).
After mother hen Pippin got of the nest, any eggs left will just die. We took these eggs out. Interested, the humans cracked them to see what was inside.

One egg, had nothing. I guess that one was not fertilized -

The second had a little formed chick, just a red blob -

The third was really upsetting.. it had a fully formed chick, with feathers. When it was cracked open, it's stomach was cut, and all of it's insides came out. Now, this poor little chick was still alive. It moved it's legs quite a bit, opened it's beak and gave a little, dying chirps. It's tiny chest was heaving, and after a minute it died.

Please, turn away if you can't bear photos now -

Even though this is terrible, and very sad, you can really see how the insides are all packed in neatly, and you can see the intestines, etc.

Our New Family Additions

So you have been waiting to hear what the new 5 additions to our family are.. well, I'm going to tell you! I would've last night, except the keyboard wasn't working, so I couldn't even sign in. :(

Well, let me give you a clue - they go "cheep cheep, cluck cluck." Can you guess? That's right - baby chicks!!!
Sarah's chicken Pippin who is a Barnevelder x Frizzle, who we raised from a chick was broody (meaning clucky and trying to hatch eggs) so we got eight fertilized eggs from the chicken breeder.

This is what Pippin looked like when she was little (we had had her for a few weeks by then) -

Pippin is the gold one - the white one is Clucks, Danny-Boy's chicken. :)

OK back to the chicks..
So.. after 21 days of sitting on the eggs, the little chicks hatched. :) Five out of the eight eggs hatched. There is a sad, and gross story about the un-hatched eggs. If you would like to hear it, please comment to tell me, and I'll include it into my next post.

Danny-Boy's chick is the little black one, who we believe is the mystery chick (one chick the breeder didn't know what it was, so it can be anything). Sarah thought of the name Inky, and Danny-Boy just agreed until 'further notice'.

There are two little black and tan ones, and the one with the most tan on it's little face is Sarah's. His/her name is Mishka, which is such a cute name don't you think? Mishka is always with Inky, they are great buddies. :)

Yesterday, (Friday), they were one week old. They are very, very hard to take photos of, as mumma hen Pippin is protective, and whenever Sarah or anyone goes near, she calls them behind her wings. Here are pictures that we did get from this first week in no particular order -

Night time. I think this was near the first day, but maybe not.

So.. the two yellow ones are Sussexs, the Black & Tans Golden Laced Wyandottes, and like I already said, little Inky is a mystery.
The three eggs that didn't hatch were two Araucanas (there eggs were a blue-green) and one was a naked neck. Mum doesn't really like those, but she got it anyway as it increases our chances on chicks.
